“I moved to Arizona on Jan 25th 2020, today is 3/2/2020. I came from Milwaukee WI. I was involved in an abusive relationship back home. I’d gotten a restraining order on my ex one day before my 40th birthday and a few days later I sent my 17 yr old son to stay with my mother in Arizona. A little over 6 months later my son experienced a mental health crisis . I had to come to his assistance right away. My mother felt she was not safe around him anymore, she has PTSD and the situation triggered that. So upon my arrival she was emotionally drained and decided that she wanted to remove herself from the situation completely. She brought my son to the airport and left us there. We slept there that night. For the next few weeks we stayed in hotels with the support of the Chandler School District, family and friends. Finally we were able to get into My Sisters Place. And now, actually as of tomorrow, we will be in our own place through Save the Family. My Sisters Place gave us a referral to FANS Across America. Not knowing what to expect I was met with such warmth and kindness the moment I walked through the front door. Maria was awesome and she made sure that we had everything that we needed for our new start. I even had the opportunity to talk with George briefly. He was so kind and shared why FANS was founded and why everyone at FANS is committed to help. I am so grateful. FANS is a true blessing.”
